Tuition
Tuition is based on a full school year, which consists of 30 classes held between September and May. Some months (especially those with school vacations) may only have two or three classes while others may have five in a month's time. Tuition is based on the total number of classes from September to May, so the monthly installment amount remains the same.
Costume Pick up & Tuition Balances
Costumes are ordered for all students in classes which participate in recital. All students are responsible for costume charges unless they choose to withdraw from the class mid-year. The MSB Registrar/Office Administrator must be notified by December 15 if students are withdrawing. A charge of $65 ($75 for levels 1,2, 3 & adults) is due by December 18 for each costume.
Payment Plans
• Payment in full upon registration – annual tuition plus registration fee.
• Monthly Installments – Annual tuition is divided into nine installments with nine equal payments, September through May. (This is a change from last year when tuition was divided into eight installments.) Monthly payments are due by the 10th of each month. We send monthly invoices via email. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Cash or Check, made payable to Maine State Ballet. There is a $20 fee for returned checks.
Students with an outstanding balance will not be allowed to register for classes or summer workshops until the balance is paid in full.
Attendance – Absences – Make up Classes
Regular attendance is critical for dance progress and success. Class attendance is taken each week.
If you have a planned absence, please let your teacher know in advance. If you are sick or unable to attend class at the last minute, a courtesy call to the main office prior to class is very much appreciated.
Refunds are not given for missed classes. Students are allowed to make up most missed classes on another day and time, if scheduled through the front office.
Withdrawal Policy
If a student wishes to drop a class prior to the end of the session, prompt notification is required. All withdrawals are effective as of the date on which the Registrar Donna Robinson is notified. Students/families are responsible for tuition until that time. MSB offers full or partial refunds as appropriate.
Parking
Drivers are asked to park with consideration of others and watch for young children in the parking lot. Double parking in front is mandatory. Drivers are asked to sign in at the front desk if they have blocked a car in.
Schedule
We do not observe Monday holidays therefore the studio will be open on Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day and Martin Luther King Day. The studio will be closed November 21-29 for Thanksgiving week, December 19 – January 2, February 20 – 27, and April 17 – 24.

The full year class schedule has additional weeks built in to allow for storm cancellations or snow days. No make-up classes are scheduled until a class has been cancelled three times. Eight week session class cancellations are made up by adding an additional week to the session.
